Careerbuilder.com is an efficient site that helps you make inroads into the huge US jobs market. Its advanced search saves you time by enabling you to search three job sectors at once, plus three different cities. You can also specify the radius to be searched. Importantly, regional and national jobs can be excluded if you are only interested in local work.

More standard criteria include keyword, advert date, type of contract and salary range. An additional feature, is the qualification level needed, although you should bear in mind that this might exclude some jobs if the advertisers haven't provided this detail.

Once search results are produced, you have further options to expand or refine the results.
